Trishanku

Trishanku:

Trishanku is a King in Ancient Indian
Mythology.His name is synonymous with
being stuck-in-between. The Story of
Trishanku begins with the King wishing
to live in Heaven in his earthly body.
This Fantasy of the King makes him approach
the Great Sage Vasishta. The Sage Vasishta
being the Spiritual head of Ayodhya, in which
resided Lord Rama. The Sage declines the King's
request.

The dejected King approaches the Son's of the
Sage and again is disappointed. The Son's of Vasishta
admonish the King for wishing something abnormal.

Finally the King approaches the Great Vishwamitra,
the King Sage. When Vishwamitra undertook Tapasya
(Penance) for many years , the King Trishanku had
looked after His Family. This apart , Sage Vasishta is
the Bete Noir of Vishwamitra.

Vishwamitra agrees and tries to put the King into
Heaven in his corporal form. The King of Devas Indra
hurls the King Back down. Now caught between these
two Titanic beings the King is stuck in between, neither
in Heaven or Earth.Undaunted Vishwamitra is adamant
and continues his efforts to get Trishanku into Heaven.
Vishwamitra being a BrahmaRishi is a Sage with unfathomable
Power.Later a contingent of Devas(Gods) convinces the Sage
to give up his effort as it is against the Laws of Nature.

Finally Vishwamitra relents and creates another Heaven
known as Tishanku Heaven. This Heaven is upside
down below the Heaven of Lord Indra.

Being stuck in between is how we would feel if we were Trishanku.
