Story of Ganesha , begins with Goddess Parvati , the Consort
of Lord Shiva creating Ganesha.Initially Lord Ganesha is a young
boy, who is told by his Mother , Devi Parvati to stand guard while
She is in the House.Ganesha lets no one enter the House.
Lord Shiva furious at being stopped from entering his own
Home , cuts the head of Ganesha .

The distraught Parvati is later consoled when an Elephants
head is attached to Ganesha and the body given Life.

Interestingly Lord Vishnu once was unable to defeat certain
Demons.Having battled them for Aeons , Lord Vishnu approaches
Lord Shiva.Shiva tells Vishnu to pray to Lord Ganesha .After
praying to Ganesha , and having obtained HIS blessings Vishnu
is able to defeat the Demons. There is a Temple in India glorifying
this Divine interaction.
